The 10th Principle

The 10th Principle… I must maintain my growth or lose it.

This Principle keeps me from taking 1 step forward & 2 steps back.

Now that I admitted the problem (1)… became willing to believe there is a better way & committed to following it (2 & 3)… proceeded to spot, admit & correct past mistakes (4 – 9)… now it’s time to live this way on a regular basis.

This is my lookout & if I practice it diligently, I will begin to catch my mistakes before they happen.

The goal for today, pay attention!

Have a great day everybody!

The 9th Principle

The 9th Principle… I must make amends in order to repair damaged relationships.

Now that I’m willing to make amends… it’s time to go do it.

The first thing to realize is that the word ‘amend’ is different than the word apologize.

Amend means to change… so I can’t just mumble ‘I’m sorry’ under my breath & think that’s sufficient.

I’m going to prove to you, through my actions, that I’m sorry.

I’m going to think & speak & act differently toward you.

The goal for today, change is the only constant… it’s time to embrace it rather than fear it!

Have a great day everybody!

The 8th Principle

The 8th Principle… Amends are impossible without willingness.

This is the 3rd time we have mentioned willingness & it’s vital importance in making any real forward progress.

Throughout this process I’ve come to realize that I’ve hurt people & it’s time to mend these broken human relations.

It may require a lot of willingness to go to someone, admit my mistakes & attempt to prove that I’ve changed… but it must be done in order to fix this.

The goal for today, be willing to take a different approach… be willing to change!

Have a great day everybody!

The 7th Principle

The 7th Principle… God will remove my defects, if I ask.

Once I’m willing to let go of a problem… all I have to do is ask.

There is a catch however… my appeal to God must be sincere & unselfish.

I can’t trick God & selfish prayers go unanswered.

I shouldn’t ask God to remove my problems so I can feel better… I should ask Him to remove my problems so I can be helpful to others.

The goal for today, know that ‘ask & ye shall receive’ is true so long as I ask for the Right things… for the Right reasons!

Have a great day everybody!

The 6th Principle

The 6th Principle… My defects can’t be corrected against my will.

The key to solving problems is to spot, admit & correct them.

We spotted our defects in the 4th Principle… admitted them in the 5th… now we set out to correct them & this 6th Principle is where correction begins.

We are all born with ‘Free Will’… but what does that really mean?

I think Thomas Jefferson said it best when he said… ‘God Himself will not save men against their wills’.

The goal for today, willingness… because I can’t correct my problems without it!

Have a great day everybody!

The 5th Principle

The 5th Principle… There is no real freedom without admitting my faults.

Obviously I have to admit my mistakes to myself & to God, but it is equally as important to admit them to another human being.

Why?

Because I become a slave to my mistakes when I’m afraid to admit them to my peers.

Humility breeds humility, whereas a refusal to admit our mistakes creates animosity & discord.

Humility is defined as… having or showing a consciousness of ones defects; modest… & that sounds like a good idea today.

Have a great day everybody!

The 4th Principle

The 4th Principle… no defect can be corrected until we clearly see what it is.

For years I treated the symptoms of my problems instead of the causes.

Example: I thought the solution to my fear of being alone was to not be alone… I was wrong.

Did you ever feel alone in a room full of people?

Me too!

That’s because loneliness is just a symptom… fear is the real problem & until I fix that… I will continue to feel alone no matter how many people I surround myself with.

The goal for today, stop treating symptoms… treat causes!

Have a great day everybody!
