How Much Can You Handle?

“God never gives us more than we can handle” ~Unknown. I love this quote, but my understanding of it is a little different than most peoples. I don’t believe that God sends me troubles to test my faith… I believe that God gives me exactly what I ask for. There was a time in my life that I wasn’t capable of facing my problems. I didn’t have the tools to fix them, so I would push them into the back of my mind (usually with the aid of drugs & alcohol). But once I turned my life around & picked up the tools… then my heart called out to God & ASKED for my troubles because I was finally ready to face them. The goal for today: know that if you have a problem it’s because you told God you were ready for it & it’s time to rise above it! Have a great day everybody!

Spirituality doesn’t have to be this mysterious thing that the world has made it out to be. It can be very simple… if we let it be. To me, spirituality is understanding that negative thoughts come from one place, positive thoughts from another… & I get to CHOOSE which well to draw from. It is knowing the difference between a conscious thought & a subconscious thought & that we are in control of both. It is knowing that the entire course of your existence is dictated by the type of thinking you CHOOSE to partake in all day… every day. The goal for today: practice spirituality by choosing your thoughts & assuming responsibility for those thoughts… good, bad or otherwise. Have a great day everybody!

First Things First

We have to learn before we can teach… walk before we can run… add & subtract before we can multiply & divide. What comes first: world peace or inner peace… wealth or work… knowledge or study? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We need to learn the basic fundamentals of life before we can run around claiming to be experts on the subject. The goal for today: set aside your fears, be honest with yourself, put the welfare of others first & give Love; because without that… we’ve got nothing! Have a great day everybody!

You Don’t Really Want That

I frequently talk about how lazy minded we’ve become & how little we really know about ourselves as a result. Example: did you ever “think” that you wanted someone else to suffer? Maybe they wronged you or hurt someone you cared about & now you want to see them pay? None of us ever really want to see people suffer. It is delusional to believe that happiness can come to me because of someone else’s suffering. I’m not saying that justice shouldn’t be served… I’m saying that there is a difference between justice & vengeance… & that the latter will NEVER lead to real peace & happiness. The goal for today: know that unconditional love is the only pathway to true inner peace! Have a great day everybody!

Self-centered Thinking

Do you think that everyone is out to get you? Do you think those people are laughing at you? Do you think that everybody’s life is wonderful except yours? Well, think again! Most of the things that piss us off aren’t real… we have imagined them. I will personally guarantee you that the world is not conspiring against you. And that those people either aren’t laughing at you, or they are & it’s because they hate their lives so they focus on yours instead. And that real happiness can only come from unselfishness, so most of what you see isn’t real. The goal for today: get rid of self-centered thinking… & most of my problems will instantly disappear! Have a great day everybody!

There is a Power that exists deep down inside of every man, woman, and child. This Power can accomplish miraculous things: it can give you strength when you have none left… it can give you courage when you are scared to death… it can give you intelligence, wisdom, and insight when you don’t know what to do… it can lead you, and guide you, and lift you up above any and all danger… and all you have to do is believe. The goal for today: believe that there is a Power greater than you, call it what you will & know that if you use that Power for good… it has no limits! Have a great day everybody!

There is a solution to all of our problems. I was 18 years into my problem before I found the solution & there’s a reason it took that long. I didn’t want it… & therefore, I wasn’t seeking it. I didn’t want to stop drinking & drugging because when I stopped, the depression & anxiety came back. Once I got to the point where I felt like I couldn’t live with, or without drugs and or alcohol… that’s when things got really bad & I had no choice but to seek an alternative solution. Some methods temporarily suppress the symptoms of our problems, but there is always one method that offers some permanent relief. The goal for today: seek, find & follow the REAL solution… & live free! Have a great day everybody!

The Gift Of…

I always liked depressing music because it seemed like pain made for more passionate music. That seems to be the way we have chosen to live & I feel the need to draw some attention to it. Pain, suffering & tragedy are powerful motivators, but why can’t we be motivated by positives? I had a pretty damn good childhood… why couldn’t I take that good & use it as motivation to seek an even higher level of positivity? Why did I choose to let go of the positive, wait for despair to set in & then seek the greater good? It doesn’t have to be that way! The goal for today: don’t wait for the so-called “gift of desperation”… grab hold of the gift of Life that’s right in front of you & be as passionate about positives as most people are about negatives! Have a great day everybody!

Understanding is the difference between love & hate

“We are all inclined to judge ourselves by our ideals; others by their acts” ~Dwight Morrow. This is a strange double standard that we live by. Most of us are unwilling to take the time to understand why people do what they do. Why do we assume that everyone’s intentions are malicious, except our own? You make a mistake & I judge you harshly; I make a mistake, but claim that because my intentions were good, I don’t deserve to be judged. I want to live in a world where people are quicker to understand, than they are to blindly judge… even if I’m the only one living in that world. The goal for today: use the brains God gave me to understand people. I can’t hate you if I understand you; and I can’t Love you if I don’t! Have a great day everybody!

Common Sense

I feel like common sense is a bit of a lost art. When I finally sought help for the mess that I had made of my life, a friend used 1 simple question to help me with all of my problems. That simple question was “How’s that working for you?” It took some time, but eventually I started asking myself that question… & that’s when common sense started to return to my life. If whatever I am doing to find happiness isn’t working… maybe it’s time to try something else. The goal for today: don’t expect fear, dishonesty, selfishness & resentment… to bring about happiness, peace & freedom! Have a great day everybody!
